Integrity. Quality. Value. Reliability. Flexibility

Nordenfjeldske Development Services (NFDS) has been operating since 1982 and in 1991 it was incorporated as an independent Norwegian public company with the head office in Trondheim. NFDS has staff deployed in various countries on long term projects and the company is recognised as one of Norway’s leading international consultancy companies within its field. This is reflected in its regular ranking among Norway’s most reliable and credit worthy companies and its accreditation by the World Bank, African Development Bank and several UN agencies.

Due to an increasingly large and successful portfolio of national and regional projects based in Africa, in 2003, a sister company – NFDS Africa – was registered as an independent Botswana public company. The head office, which is based in Botswana, has permanent technical and administrative staff. It also draws from a large pool of internationally recognised consultants.

Both companies work closely together, offering our clients and partners the benefits of many years of practical developing country experience balanced with high standards of quality, technical excellence and professional conduct. Our combined European and African operations and links ensure that we maintain an on-going appreciation of the challenges of working in a complex and ever changing world.

Quality control

NFDS applies a comprehensive project and personnel management system based on the EN ISO 9001 standard. Our Quality Assurance System has been implemented successfully in all our projects to date, providing our clients with an assurance of quality and timely administrative and technical work.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR)

NFDS and all our staff are committed to supporting sustainable development and our CSR plan includes three pillars.

  • Firstly, we support the development of young experts through an internship programme that provides mentoring and active engagement in our projects. In the eight years that the programme has been running we have welcomed twelve interns into our team.
  • Secondly, we allocate about 20 % of our staff time to support the not-for-profit organisation Stop Illegal Fishing, an organisation that all our staff are very dedicated to.
  • Thirdly, we support various local Botswana charities through sponsorship of YCare and engagement of our staff in their fund raising events.
