Evaluation of the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the EU and Mauritius

March 2016 - A new report produced by NFDS in partnership with COFREPECHE, MRAG and POSEIDON with the financial support of the European Commission, provides a retrospective and prospective evaluation of the Protocol to the Fisheries Partnership Agreement (FPA) between the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Mauritius.

The report analyses the current FPA and Protocol in terms of its effectiveness in achieving its specific objectives; efficiency in achieving the desired effects at a reasonable cost; relevance in terms of addressing needs and problems, coherence with other interventions and sustainability. An evaluation to support the potential negotiation and implementation of a new Protocol is also provided in terms of needs to be met; added value of EU involvement; objectives to be achieved; policy options available and lessons learnt. The report concludes by providing recommendations in respect to negotiation for a new Protocol between the two partners.
