Climate change adaptation

Climate change will have a significant effect on Africa. More frequent extreme weather events such as storms, droughts and floods will pose a threat to both people and fish.

Changing conditions such as increasing temperatures and habitats may for example induce migration by certain fish species away from current fishing grounds. NFDS supports climate change adaptation in fisheries as part of sustainable fisheries management. For example, our services include vulnerability assessments, identification of adaptation actions as well as support in the implementation of these.
