37th Meeting of the Southern African Development Community Technical Committee on Fisheries

March 2019  — Per Erik Bergh (Managing Director) representing the Stop Illegal Fishing Secretariat, attended the 37th Meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Technical Committee on Fisheries (FTC), held in Windhoek, Namibia on 18-20 March 2019.

The FTC meets annually to direct and review the SADC programme of work. 58 delegates representing 13 SADC Member States attended the 37th FTC, alongside sub-regional partners from a range of international and regional organizations, and non-State actors. Amongst key strategic decisions was the approval of the roadmap to integrate the FISH-i Africa Task Force into the planed SADC Regional Fisheries Monitoring Control and Surveillance Coordination Centre (MCSCC).
