Port State Measures Agreement under discussion at Nigerian interagency meeting

November 2019 — Per Erik Bergh (CEO) and JD Kotze represented Stop Illegal Fishing at the West Africa Task Force interagency working group in Lagos, Nigeria from the 4th to the 8th November 2019.

The West Africa Task Force has brought together the Member States of the Fisheries Commission for the West Central Gulf of Guinea to build strategic and operational cooperation to fight illegal fishing at the regional national and international level.

The November meeting focussed attention on the value of becoming party to the Food and Agriculture Organization Port States Measures Agreement (PSMA), and the roles of various stakeholders.
