December 2019 — Matthew Markides represented the Stop Illegal Fishing Secretariat at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Agriculture and Food Security Thematic Group (FANR-ICP) meeting on the 3-4 December 2019 in Gaborone, Botswana. The FANR-ICP is one of eight Thematic Groups under the Joint SADC-ICP Task Force, the mechanism facilitating dialogue between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and International Cooperating Partners (ICP).
On the 5 December 2019 the Joint SADC-ICP Task Force meeting was also held in Gaborone, with one of the outcomes being the creation of the eighth Thematic Group, focusing on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management.
