Alexander comes to NFDS with experience of working on a number of ocean issues including research on microplastics for the Food and Agriculture Organization, shark abundance research in the Pacific Ocean, and developing sustainable fisheries strategies in Somalia. He has also been involved with a project that utilized AIS systems to track overfishing trends in marine reserves in the Cook Islands as well as work to support bycatch reduction in fishing gear in Denmark.
Alexander will contribute to NFDS projects focused on fisheries management in the Western Indian Ocean, with a particular concentration on the promotion of best practice in fisheries enforcement and establishing minimum terms and conditions for licences.

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Fisheries Science & Management from James Cook University, Australia. B.Sc. in Biology awarded by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
