Sandy has 30 years of international development experience mainly in the field of sustainable fisheries.
Sandy has degrees from Aberystwyth and Aberdeen Universities and has over 30 years of international development experience including living and working in Africa for twenty-six years. Sandy’s work in fisheries started in the Falkland Islands, where she spent four years, mostly at sea, monitoring and watching the industry at work. Sandy worked for the UK’s DFID in Nigeria and Namibia, the SADC as their Fisheries Expert, and for the last fifteen years as Technical Director at NFDS. Her work includes national and regional policy development, inter-governmental negotiations, research and project implementation on sustainable development, fisheries management, blue growth and stopping illegal fishing. Sandy regularly presents her work at conferences and meetings and she is the author of various peer reviewed publications, policy briefs, consultancy reports, workshop proceedings, position papers, training manuals, and case studies.

Qualifications: MSc (distinction) Marine and Fisheries Science, University of Aberdeen, UK and BSc (Hons) Environmental Science, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK (class award).
