June 2023 - Andréa Durighello (Fisheries Expert) attended the FCWC West Africa Task Force’s (WATF’s) Fourteenth Task Force meeting which took place in Lomé, Togo from the 7 – 9 June 2023. NFDS has been a partner in the WATF since its inception and currently supports the WATF through Stop Illegal Fishing as a member of the WATF Technical Team.
During the meeting, FCWC Member States provided updates on their progress regarding MCS activities in their countries. The participation of external partners, including EFCA, Skylight, ILO, who provided overview of their respective activities. The WATF also made recommendations and requests on priorities that could be addressed in a third phase of the project, as the second phase is now coming to an end. These requests will form the basis of a technical proposal for funding by NORAD, which is currently being drafted.
