NFDS teams attends the fourth MCSCC Operational Task Force Meeting
On 23–24 March 2026, Per Erik Bergh (CEO and Managing Director), Sandy Davies (Senior Fisheries and Environment Director), Noa Senete (MCS Expert), Regina Dithapo (Communications Expert), and Andréa Durighello (Fisheries Expert) attended the fourth meeting of the MCSCC Operational Task Force (OTF) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The meeting brought together representatives from most MCSCC State Parties, the SADC Secretariat, and partners including Stop Illegal Fishing (SIF), Benguela Current Convention (BCC), TMT, TRAFFIC, FishFORCE Academy, GIZ and WWF, with observers from the FCWC and SWIOFC. Discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) and unregulated fishing, advancing the SADC Regional Register of Fishing Vessels (RRFV), tackling the use of monofilament nets, and improving information-sharing via the MCSCC Basecamp platform.
