Maya Bergh

Maya is primarily interested in the development and impact of global policies and legal frameworks on Africa’s ability to achieve SDG 14 and promote sustainable fisheries. She first joined NFDS as an intern and has now returned as a Researcher and Analyst, focusing on analysing the large number of IUU fishing cases and turning this information into evidence-based policy advice. Her work contributes to NFDS’s broader efforts to understand how globally negotiated policies affect African countries’ ability to engage in legal, safe, and equitable fisheries.
