Expert Group Meeting on Fisheries Crime

February 2016 - Sandy Davies (Technical Director) and Per Erik Bergh (Managing Director) participated in a three day Expert Group Meeting on Fisheries Crime in Vienna, Austria.

The meeting was convened by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and brought together a team of experts to discuss the nature and definition of fisheries crime with a view to identifying available compliance and enforcement tools, to effectively address it in all its forms. Meeting participants also offered timely and actionable recommendations on measures to be taken towards  combatting fisheries crime, not only by governments and relevant international bodies, but also by industry, civil society and the wider public.
