FISH-i Africa are a Blue Solution

June 2016 - Kristín  v. Kistowski (Senior Advisor) was in Zanzibar  representing FISH-i Africa at the Blue Solution Africa Forum. FISH-i Africa has been selected as one of 30 ‘Blue Solutions’ in Africa, these are solutions that inspire and facilitate action towards healthy and productive marine and coastal ecosystems.

FISH-i Africa, a Stop Illegal Fishing initiative that is technically supported by NFDS, was selected as an example of regional cooperation and information sharing that is yielding significant results in tackling illegal fishing in the Western Indian Ocean.

Blue Solutions is an initiative implemented by the German Development Agency (GIZ), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the UNEP Collaborating Centre Grid Arendal.
