May 2022 — Per Erik Bergh (CEO) and JD Kotze (Expert) provided training support to a five-day FishFORCE training workshop on port State measures, in Mombasa, Kenya.
The workshop was offered in conjunction with the University of Nairobi’s Maritime Centre- FishFORCE Academy East Africa (UoN-Maritime Centre) and Stop Illegal Fishing (SIF), whose experts provided training on the core elements of PSMA implementation. Topics covered included capacity building, interagency cooperation, risk assessment and inspection procedures.
The training was targeted at relevant local agencies that are involved in port operations and representatives from nine agencies participated.
This training forms part of a series of workshops and trainings on PSMA implementation organised by Nelson Mandela University’s FishFORCE Academy, technically supported by Stop Illegal Fishing and with funding support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
