November 2018 — Per Erik Bergh (Managing Director) and Mark Ssemakula (Project Officer) attended the seventh meeting of the West Africa Task Force of the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC), held in Abuja, Nigeria from the 12th to the 14th November 2018.
Opening the meeting, the Honourable Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, urged the Directors of Fisheries and Heads of MCS of the various FCWC countries present at the meeting to continue to provide guidance and leadership in the fight against IUU fishing. He stated, “This unique initiative has increased transparency in the region through information sharing and cooperation.”
