Strategic Environmental Assessment Scoping workshop held for Tanzania

August 2018 — Sandy Davies (Technical Director) and Birgitta Farrington (Environmental Expert) conducted a one-day Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping workshop in Dar es Salaam for the Deep Sea Fishing Authority.

The purpose of the workshop was to inform stakeholders of the SEA process concerning the proposed fisheries legislative framework and policy for the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) fisheries. The workshop provided an opportunity to confirm the key issues to be addressed as part of the SEA and also to collect additional information on issues such as threats and risks; new infrastructure developments affecting the EEZ; social impacts; and to confirm the initial SEA findings. A second SEA workshop will be held to present the findings of the SEA process in late 2018.
